SaCC -Connect Marrickville

Connect Marrickville SaCC is a school as community centre (SaCC), funded under the Families NSW initiative and administered through the Department of Education to support families raising young children from birth to 8 years in the local area.

Based in the grounds of Marrickville West Public School the centre offers a range of activities and services to families living in Marrickville south, regardless of which school they select for their children.

Connect Marrickville SaCC aims to:

• increase supportive connections for families
• increase use of health and community services, resources and activities
• increase social, emotional and communication skills for school preparedness
• promote early literacy for children
• increase community engagement and participation.

Connect Marrickville SaCC does a range of activities such as:

• supported playgroups
• mothers and other social groups (Japanese mothers group, Vietnamese Families group)
• adult education with childcare
• parenting groups ("Black Box Parenting", "Anxiety Coach")
• community cultural development (Mini Mela, cultural cooking exchange)
• early literacy engagement (annual reading day, story times in the community)
